Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels Sale to Include 100-Carat Diamond
April 05, 15(IDEX Online News) – Sotheby’s upcoming Magnificent Jewels sale is one event that should live up to its name. More than 350 pieces are set to go on sale at the 21 April event and are expected to achieve in excess of $50 million.
Topping the highlights of the evening is a 100-carat emerald-cut diamond, which is anticipated to sell for between $19 and $25 million. The D / IF diamond is the largest “perfect” emerald-cut diamond ever offered at auction. The rough from which this diamond is cut weighed over 200 carats and was mined by De Beers in southern Africa.
Another highlight is a platinum and 18-karat gold fancy purplish pink diamond and sapphire ring, which has a pre-sale estimate of $2.5-$3.5 million.
Also guaranteed to attract a lot of interest is the Monarch Blue Diamond – a platinum and rose gold fancy blue and colored diamond ring that contains an oval-shaped mixed-cut fancy blue diamond weighing over 6 carats with a pre-sale estimate of $3.5-$4.5 million.
While a platinum and diamond necklace that features a suspended 52.26-carat pear-shaped D / SI1 diamond has a pre-sale estimate of between $3.8 and $4.2 million.
Highlights of the sale will be on public view in London and Doha, before returning to New York for exhibition beginning 17 April.
