Christie’s Expects Magnificent Jewels Sale to Achieve $80 Million
April 12, 15(IDEX Online News) – Christie’s upcoming Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva is expected to generate revenues in excess of $80 million. The highlight of the sale is the Maria Christina Royal Devant-de-Corsage brooch, which was presented as a wedding gift from King Alfonso XII of Spain to his wife, the Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria in November 1879.
Among the diamond highlights are a pear-shaped D / IF diamond weighing 55.52 carats with a pre-auction estimate of $8.5-$10.5 million, a 5.18-carat rectangular-cut Fancy Vivid Pink diamond of 5.18 carats (estimated at $9.5-12.5 million and an Ashoka-cut D / IF diamond ring of 21.75 carats, which has an estimate of $2.8-3.5 million.
Gemstone lots on offer include The Pride of Burma, a 6.25-carat cushion-shaped Burmese ruby and diamond ring estimated at $1.8-$2.5 million, a pair of antique emerald Indian bangles (estimated at $1.5-$2 million) and a cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphire of 35.09 carats with a pre-auction estimate of $3-$4.2 million.
The Magnificent Jewels sale will take place on May 13.
