Peregrine’s Chidliak Returns Bulk Sample Diamond Grade of 0.88 Cts Per Ton
January 13, 16(IDEX Online News) – Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. has reported that its Chidliak Diamond Project has returned a sample diamond grade of 0.88 carats per ton.
A bulk sample was collected in April and May 2015, and a total of 717.65 carats of commercial size (+1.18 mm) was recovered from the CH-7 kimberlite pipe, including 53 diamonds of 1 carat or larger and 183 diamonds over 0.5 carats.
A substantial portion of the yield is thought to be of gem quality and the diamonds of particular note includes a 5.33 carat white colorless transparent octahedron, which was thought to have originally been larger than 6 carats, but significant diamond breakage was observed.
The sample also yielded a 5.02 carat off-white transparent octahedron, 4.40 carat off-white transparent macle, 2.01 carat white colorless transparent octahedron and a 0.52 and 0.5 carat yellow transparent octahedra.
WWW International Diamond Consultants will perform an independent valuation of the 717.65 carat parcel in Antwerp, Belgium, later in the quarter.
"Once again the Peregrine team has delivered an excellent outcome. We are very excited with the results of the 2015 bulk sample from CH-7. These results continue to confirm the outstanding diamond resource potential of the Chidliak project,” said company president and CEO Tom Peregoodoff.
The 100-percent owned Chidliak Diamond Project is based in Nunavut, Canada.
