February 29, 16 by David Brummer

(IDEX Online News) – The main themes on the 88th Annual Academy Awards red carpet were diamonds and white metals, mostly platinum – so, it wasn’t just the acting awards that were “white.”

Charlize Theron appeared in what was reported to be $3.7 million worth of Harry Winston jewelry. Wearing a scarlet-colored custom Christian Dior dress, Theron accessorized with a 48-carat secret cluster diamond necklace, which was matched with 15.49-carat cluster diamond earrings, an 8.78-carat cushion-cut diamond ring with micropave, all set in platinum.

Forevermark jewelry was in abundance at the event. Academy Awards presenter Olivia Munn wore a Jade Trau 12.06-carat diamond cuff set in 18-karat white gold, valued at around $1 million. She augmented her look with stud earrings featuring 4.84 carats of round brilliant diamonds and set in 18-karat white gold.

Margot Robbie wore a daring, plunging gold snakeskin gown by Tom Ford, which she set off with Forevermark by Rahaminov 18-karat white gold hoop earrings featuring 8.59 carats of diamonds, a 3-carat diamond eternity band set in 18-karat gold and a 6.21-carat fancy yellow pear-shaped diamond ring set in 18-karat white gold.

E! Red Carpet host Giuliana Rancic’s white Georges Chakra Couture creation was paired with several Forevermark pieces. These included 24.53-carat oversized diamond earrings set in 18-karat white and rose gold, an 8.86-carat open diamond flower bracelet set in white gold, a 6.60-carat princess cut diamond ring with fancy cut pave diamonds set in 18-karat white and rose gold and a 3.21-carat Nathalie K diamond eternity band set in 18-karat rose gold.

Serial Oscar-winner Kate Winslet favored Indian diamond jewelry designer, Nirav Modi. All of the pieces she wore were made from 18-karat white gold and included a diamond bracelet featuring more than 39 carats, a ring featuring more than 5 carats of diamonds and 19-carat diamond earrings.
