ALROSA Resources Total 1.077 Billion Carats; Reserves 658 Million Carats
May 15, 16(IDEX Online News) – The world’s largest diamond miner by volume, ALROSA, recently announced that according to independent verification, its resources on January 1 totaled 1.077 billion carats and reserves were 658 million carats.
The volume of resources, which ALROSA said grew by 11 percent compared to a July 2013 valuation, were as a result of evaluation from several new sources including, Verkhne-Munskoe deposit, Zaria pipe of Aikhal division, Pionerskaya pipe and Lomonosov pipe of Lomonosov division and the inclusion of alluvial deposits including AO Nizhne-Lenskoe.
The increase in volume of reserves, which rose 8 percent compared to the same July 2013 valution, was due to raised evaluation reserves of the Mir pipe, International pipe and with the inclusion of alluvial deposits including AO Nizhne-Lenskoe.
ALROSA announced in April that its rough diamond production for 2015 increased 6 percent to 38.3 million carats.
