Kennady Diamonds Makes Advances at Faraday 1 & 3
May 19, 16(IDEX Online News) – Kennady Diamonds Inc. has announced that delineation and infill drilling at the Faraday 1 kimberlite and exploration drilling at the Faraday 3 kimberlite and Hobbes anomaly continue to advance.
The company is focusing on Faraday 1 and 3 with continued drilling from the ice, although warming weather and deteriorating ice conditions will likely result in the program being wrapped up shortly.
Kennady will also continue ice-based exploration at the Hobbes anomaly, which was originally believed to be part of the hypabyssal Kelvin Sheet, although the presence of volcanistic kimberlite was discovered there in late 2015 – prompting further exploration.
The recently concluded 2016 bulk sampling program recovered 580 tons of kimberlite from Kelvin North, together with ~40 tons of Kelvin South limb and ~23 tons from Faraday 2. The company expects that 1,200 carats will be recovered from the Kelvin sample.
“The newly discovered Faraday 3 body continues to grow in size with each drill hole, and it appears that Faraday 1 and Faraday 3 may be joined at depth as they approach the shore line of Faraday Lake,” said Kennady Diamonds president and CEO, Dr Rory Moore.
“Further drilling will be required to confirm this. Kimberlite has now been defined over a strike of more than 200 meters and appears to be open to the northwest.”
