Changes to WFDB Executive Committee
June 07, 16(IDEX Online News) – The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has announced changes to its executive committee, following the recent 37th World Diamond Congress in Dubai.
WFDB president Ernie Blom was re-elected to a third consecutive term, while Israel Diamond Exchange president Yoram Dvash will hold the position of vice president.
Bharat Diamond Bourse vice president Mehul Shah replaced long-standing office holder Dieter Hahn as treasurer-general, while Rony Unterman continues as secretary-general. The WFDB’s board members are: Rami Baron (president, Diamond Dealers Club Australia), Julien Drybooms (president, Vrije Diamanthandel NV, Antwerp), Anoop Mehta (president, Bharat Diamond Bourse), Lin Qiang (president, Shanghai Diamond Exchange), Alex Popov (president, Moscow Diamond Bourse), Reuven Kaufman (president, Diamond Dealers Club of New York), Nikhil Jhaveri (president, Diamond Club West Coast, USA) and Peter Meeus (chairman, Dubai Diamond Exchange).
Michel Schonfeld is the deputy-secretary-general. Julien Drybooms is the deputy-treasurer-general, as well as being made Honorary Life President. Executive director Louise Prior also remains in her position.
The WFDB presented Willy Rotti with the Diamantaire of the Year award, while special awards in recognition of their long-standing service to the WFDB and the wider diamond industry were made to Dieter Hahn, and to former London Diamond Bourse president Harry Levy.
