Polished Diamond Prices Remain Stable in June
July 01, 16(IDEX Online News) – The polished diamond price index for June was flat, with barely any fluctuations. The Index began the month at 125.1 and ended at 125.3.
Reports from the largest trade show – Las Vegas – were that there was diamond demand, but business was on the slow side. With such stable prices, we reiterate that this could herald a change in how trade shows are organized, particularly in light of the recent difficulties at the Hong Kong show.
On a year-over-year basis, June’s average price fell 3.5 percent, in the mid-range for price fluctuation in 2016.
On a month-to-month basis, May’s global polished diamond prices saw slight growth, registering a 0.2-percent increase over May.
Diamond Price Stability Continues
Polished diamond prices have shown stability and only minimal fluctuations since November, a trend which continued into June, with the graphs showing statistically insignificant changes.
