Ore Processing Commences at Renard Diamond Project
July 17, 16(IDEX Online News) – Stornoway Diamond Corporation has announced that ore processing has commenced at its Renard Diamond Project, marking the beginning of plant ramp-up.
The company said that as of July 13, a little more than 1 million tons of ore had been stockpiled, sufficient to commence and maintain the planned ramp-up. Commercial production is defined as the maintenance of ore processing for 30 days at 60 percent of nameplate capacity.
“The commencement of diamond production at Renard comes exactly 2 years and 5 days since we broke ground for mine construction,” said president and CEO Matt Manson.
“Our project execution continues to track several weeks ahead of our (already) re-baselined schedule and well within our capital budget. Our focus now turns to the efficient ramping-up of the process plant and the reconciliation of our principal Mineral Resources and mine operating parameters.”
The Renard Diamond Project is located 350 kilometers north of Chibougamau in the James Bay region of north-central Québec.
