June 18, 17(IDEX Online) – The inaugural Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair came to an end on Saturday with almost 13,000 visitors taking part.
The Thai Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (TGJTA) said that there had been 5,728 visitors from overseas and 7,216 from Thailand at the June 15-18 show.
The countries with the highest number of visitors at the show were China, India, Myanmar, Japan and the USA.
TGJTA President Suttipong Damrongsakul said he was pleased with the success of the event, and that next year's show would be held in mid-2018. He thanked regional trade associations for supporting the event.
The four-day international gems and jewelry fair held in the Thai capital featured fashion shows, memorandum of understanding signing ceremonies, networking activities and seminars. Exhibitors included sellers of loose diamonds and gemstones as well as jewelry.
“I’ve been coming to jewelry fairs in Thailand for the past 35 years to purchase gemstones and I found that this fair is well organized ... and to locate booths in the exhibition hall,” said Indian buyer Poojan Nilesh Patel of Poojan Gems in Mumbai.
