ALROSA To Spend $4M On Charitable Assistance To Educational Institutions
September 04, 17(IDEX Online) – ALROSA will spend $4 million (RUB 220 million) on charitable assistance to educational institutions in 2017, the mining firm said.
The funds will be largely directed to repairing and equipping schools in the Mirny area, as well as to support of institutions of secondary special and higher education, including the Arctic Federal University, the Far-Eastern Federal University, the North-Eastern Federal University and the Regional Technical College in Mirny.
“Supporting educational institutions and caring for the younger generation are one of the key areas of the social policy of our company," said Alexander Basyrov, Head of the Social Welfare and Regional Development Department of ALROSA. “We consider this activity not just as a part of our social obligations, but as an investment in the future of Yakutia, and ALROSA. We will be happy, if one of today’s first-graders, when becoming an adult, chooses the honorable profession of a diamond miner.”
