IIJS Signature Supporting Female Entrepreneurs and New Designers
January 22, 20(IDEX Online) - IIJS Signature is adding a Design Pavillion to its showfloor this year. The new pavilion will feature the work of nine female entrepreneurs and nine budding jewelry designers. The participants will be chosen by independent industry experts appointed by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in assistance with the Women's Jewelry Association - India. Preference will also be given to IIGJ past and present alumni. "As GJEPC, we indulge in a series of design initiatives across the year that helps nurture the skill set and talent of jewelry design, said Pramod Agrawal, chairman of GJEPC. "Design Pavilion at IIJS Signature is yet another such effort in that direction." Two other design events are taking place around IIJS Signature: the Artisan Awards 2020 and the day-long Design Inspirations seminar. The Artisan Awards 2020 will honor nine designers who created pieces based on three key architectural eras - Art Deco, Islamic Arabesque and Neo-Futurism. Competition organizers received 625 entries, with 27 designers chosen as finalists. The Design Inspirations seminar, which will take place on the sidelines of IIJS Signature, on February 16, includes foreign and Indian speakers from the fields of fashion, jewelry and retail. India hopes to boost its jewelry exports from the current $12 billion to $18 billion by 2025. IIJS Signature 2020 takes place from February 13-16 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.
