Static End to 2024 for IDEX Polished Price Index

(IDEX Online) - The IDEX Polished Price Index ended 2024 with little movement. There was a slight increase in November - the first and only one of the year - followed by a near-straight line during December, which ended with an unexpected bump and wobble. If we strip out the last four days of the month, December was, overall, a very slight decline.
A year ago we were predicting a new direction of travel. The Index was finally on the increase - in November and December 2023 - after a long and steady decline from its post-Covid peak in March 2022. But that now seems to have been a false start. After two months of growth the Index faltered, hit its lowest point for 13 years in May 2024 - and kept on falling.
