Jeweler in Court over Trade Show Death
January 09, 25(IDEX Online) - A jeweler in the US has been charged with aggravated assault over an incident at a trade show last March which led to man's death.
David Walton, 42, told police he pushed David Ettinger, 69, also a jeweler, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, in Dallas (pictured) while they were both attending the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) show.
According to a Dallas Police Department arrest warrant affidavit, Walton said he'd made a comment towards Ettinger's wife Lori at the hotel bar,
He said that later that evening Ettinger grabbed him by the arm. He responded by pushing Ettinger, who fell and struck his head.
Ettinger, who had just retired from his Bechdel Jewelers store in Inwood, West Virginia, died in hospital later of his injuries.
Walton, co-owner of the Hudson Valley Goldsmith jewelry store in New Paltz, Ulster County, New York, has been indicted for the felony of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and will re-appear in court next week (15 January).
