Houston Salesman Robbed of $1 Million in Jewelry

(IDEX Online News) – A Houston-area jewelry salesman was robbed of $1 million worth of diamonds last week following a premeditated attack on his car.
According to local media, the man was targeted after leaving a store in the Galleria area and heading back to the airport. “(He) was apparently tailed to the airport,” Steve Silver, of the Jewerly Appraisal Services told KPRC 2.
“At a stop light, (he) got bumped from behind. He got out, they got out, grabbed the bag and they took off. It was one of those things where they knew what they were doing.
So many salespeople are being targeted in Houston that some companies are banning their employees from carrying jewelry on them in the area.
“A lot of jewelry manufacturers have basically told their salesmen, don't come to areas where these gang activity things, robbing jewelry salesmen or whatever, are occurring," said Silver. "So they just, basically, decided to do their business in jewelry trade shows as opposed to sending salesmen out on the road."
