Antwerp Rough Diamond Imports +7.12% in March

(IDEX Online News) – The value of Antwerp's rough diamond imports increased 7.12 percent to $1.364 billion in March compared to $1.273 billion in March 2011, according to data released today (Tuesday) by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC).  

 

By volume, however, rough diamond imports fell by 11.51percent compared to March 2011. This represented a drop from 10,564,913 carats to 9,348,586 carats.

 

When it came to rough diamonds, the value of exports was up 8.18 percent, from $1,351 billion in 2011 to 1.462 billion.

 

By volume, rough diamond exports dropped 9.7 percent from 12,493,877 carats to 11,281,655 carats.

 

In February, rough diamond imports stood at $1.05 billion for a volume of 9.7 million carats.

 

Gross exports of rough diamonds in February totaled $1.14 billion for a volume of 10.3 million carats.
