IDEX Online Poll: VS and Better Goods Are Hot

As the holiday season is approaching, we wanted to see what clarities are most in demand in white goods of up to one carat. According to our weekly poll – VS and better.

“In white polished diamonds of up to 1.00 ct, which purity is most in demand?” 55 percent of respondents to our poll said VS and better. Over a quarter, 26 percent, said “SI clarities” and 7 percent of respondents picked “Pique stones”

One possible explanation to the growing popularity of these goods is rising demand in China and India which have started consuming them locally.

“Demand is equal for all clarities” was the answer of another 7 percent of our respondents, while another 5 percent answered “I’m not sure, it varies”.

Join us this week as we head to southern Africa, where governments are considering laws that will greatly limit the exports of rough diamonds in favor of establishing local polishing and jewelry manufacturing facilities.
