Kidman Sparkles with Diamonds in Chanel No.5 Ad

A new TV ad campaign for Chanel No.5 starring Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman wearing custom jewelry worth $42 million and custom-designed outfits by Chanel top designer Karl Lagerfeld is set to air, as the company looks to boost its Christmas season sales.

The show-stopping piece, which Kidman wears in the final scene of the advertisement, is a pendant set with 687 diamonds featuring the perfume’s logo, dangling down Kidman’s bare back from a long necklace.
The $12 million ad campaign for the world-famous perfume, with Kidman picking up a $10 million check for her work, is being directed by Baz Luhrman, a friend of Kidman’s and her director in the film Moulin Rouge.
“She is a composition of all the iconic women who had, or very well could have had, some relationship with Chanel, from Marilyn Monroe to Jacqueline Kennedy, Maria Callas, Catherine Deneuve, Princess Diana and, now, Nicole,” Luhrman was quoted by The Daily Telegraph as saying.
The heads of Karl Lagerfeld are also said to be delighted to have secured Kidman for the ad campaign. "We've been dreaming of her for many years,” said President Francoise Montenay. “For us, she is the most iconic person you could ever find."
