Diamond Bourse of Canada Officially Launching

March 03, 09 by Edahn Golan

A new diamond exchange, the Diamond Bourse of Canada (DBC), will officially open its doors Tuesday in North York, Ontario. Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), has welcomed the launch, urging it to immediately apply for membership in the Federation.

Following feasibility study on the possibility of establishing a bourse in Canada, the official launch of the DBC will take place Tuesday afternoon at the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto.

The Bourse invited members of the industry traders to apply for a membership in the new exchange and join the ten founding members:

Accudiam Inc.

Artinian Diamonds Inc.

Brilliant C Diamonds Corp.

Diaco Inc.

HRA Investments Ltd.

Gem Star Inc.

Libman & Company Ltd.

Louis Frankian Jewellers Inc.

Northam Diamond Manufacturing and Trading Inc.

Vandan Associates Inc.

“On behalf of the WFDB's Executive Committee and the entire WFDB membership, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate the founding members of the Diamond Bourse of Canada (DBC), its president Bhushan Vora, and vice president Greg Jacobson upon the bourse's launch today," Paz said.

Paz said he was impressed with the bourse's thorough preparations for its establishment. "The DBC founders have liaised with all possible partners, such as the Canadian federal government, the government of the North Western Territories, the country's various authorities for mining and development, as well other industry organizations such as the Canadian Jewelers Association (CJA).”

Paz added that launching a bourse in these troubled economic times is not an easy undertaking, promising that the WFDB will do all it can to help the DBC succeed.
