Alrosa Holding Polished Diamond Auction

Alrosa is holding an auction of polished diamonds in Tokyo today together with the Tokyo Diamond Exchange.
On the heels of the International Jewellery Tokyo (IJT) show last week, Alrosa is offering some of its goods to bidders. The Russian miner said 53 of its largest polished diamonds are on the block.
According to reports in the Russian press, the company is offering 58 gems ranging in size from 0.5 to 22 carats.
Alrosa representatives said that in order to qualify, a buyer needs to register and present proof of legal earned income…
One such buyer is Russian-born Sumo wrestler Soslan Borazov, AKA Roho.
Alrosa reported a strong turnout at its booth at IJT, with about 1,000 visitors on the first day of the show. The miner, which also polishes diamonds and makes diamond jewelry, said it met with Japanese jewelry manufacturers who expressed interest in establishing commercial ties.
Some of them are expected to take part in the auction today.
