WGC Appoints New Head for India
March 06, 07The World Gold Council has appointed Ajay Mitra as Managing Director, India effective from March 5. Mitra fills in the gap left by the departure of former MD Sanjeev Agarwal last year.
Mitra, an experienced post-graduate in marketing, earlier served an 11-year stint at Coca Cola, right up to 2005. He spent the last 18 months in Russia as Commercial Director for the distribution and marketing company Melcosmetics.

James Burton, CEO of the World Gold Council, adds, “I congratulate Ajay on his appointment as Managing Director for India. The Indian market remains the largest in the world and it is crucial that we continue to effectively market gold to its constantly evolving consumer audience. Ajay brings with him a great background in consumer marketing which will be invaluable in his new role.”
