IGI Opens Lab in Kolkata

International Gemological Institute (IGI) is opening the first diamond jewelry certification lab in Kolkata, India. IGI also has two labs in Mumbai.

The lab will certify diamonds set in jewelry and offer courses for gem and jewelry enthusiasts, starting with a polished diamond grading course.

IGI decided to establish a lab in Kolkata after receiving positive responses in the region to its “mobile labs” and recognizing the potential of the East Indian market.

IGI India Managing Director Tehmasp Printer noted, “Looking at the growing East Indian market, we decided to start our Kolkata office so that our clients and customers don’t have to worry about transporting their valuables to get them certified. They can expect the best, global standards in our certification process.”
