RJC to Hold Responsible Sourcing, Chain of Custody Panel at Basel

(IDEX Online News) - The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), Solidaridad and Fairtrade Foundation will present a Panel Session on Responsible Sourcing and Chain of Custody at Baselworld 2011. RJC will also hold a press conference discussing certification in the jewelry industry.

The panel discussion - to take place on Thursday, March 24 at 2 pm in the Samarkand room – is to brief attendees on the concrete efforts of each organization towards common objectives of Responsible Sourcing and Chain-of-Custody, as well as share stories of what members of the supply chain are doing now to ensure better practices.

Speakers at the event will be RJC COO Catherine Sproule, Solidaridad Gold Program Coordinator Jennifer Horning, and Fairtrade Foundation’s New Products and Standards Development Manager Gemma Cartwright. RJC Chairman Dr Matthew Runci will moderate.

A day before the panel discussion, RJC will hold a press conference titled “Certification in the jewelry industry: current achievements and future challenges.” As well as introducing a new RJC official Supporter. The press conference will take place on Wednesday, March23 at 2 pm at the Mexico conference room.

Runci will address the event, joined by RJC Vice Chairman John Hall and

Nawal Aït-Hocine, Corporate Responsibility Director at Cartier International.
