Record-breaking Briolette Named The Star of China

(IDEX Online News) – The record-breaking 75.36-carat briolette diamond sold by Christie's Hong Kong last month for $11,151,245, or $148,000 per carat, has been named The Star of China by owner Tiffany Chen, the vice chairman of China Star Entertainment Limited.

The diamond was the top-selling lot sold at the Christie's Magnificent Jewels Sale on May 28, and has GIA certificate showing it to be a D color, type IIa stone.
Christie’s stated that The Star of China is the largest and most perfect briolette diamond offered for sale at auction, on top of the other two world record breaking diamonds of this season, The Princie Diamond and The Winston Legacy Diamond.
