Survey Uncovers Two New Kimberlites at Chidliak

(IDEX Online News) – An exploration program carried out by De Beers Canada Inc. at the Chidliak property on Baffin Island owned by Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. uncovered two new kimberlites and a possible kimberlite float. The findings are undergoing final petrographic confirmation.

Three new confirmed kimberlites have been discovered this year at Chidliak, bringing the total to 64.

During the summer program which ended August 19, De Beers completed ground geophysical orientation surveys over 12 known kimberlites using gravity, electromagnetics, ground penetrating radar and magnetics. The results will be used to find the best techniques for discovering additional kimberlites in the future.
