HRD Antwerp Launches M-Screen Melee Screening Service

(IDEX Online News) – Diamond certification authority HRD Antwerp recently launched its melee diamond screening service, as well as inaugurating the extension of its Mumbai offices.

The company said that the increasing incidence of lab-grown diamonds entering the diamond and diamond jewelry market had necessitated the use of the M-screen melee diamond screening service. HRD is confident that the use of the machine will strengthen global consumer confidence throughout the diamond pipeline.

The M-Screen automatically feeds, screens and sorts out round brilliant diamonds at the rate of approximately 7,200 diamonds per hour. Depending on the size of the stones and the quantity in the batch, the machine could sort as many as 18,000 diamonds in an hour.

HRD Antwerp’s Mumbai office extension opening was attended by HE Minister-president of the government of Flanders Geert Bourgeois, Jan Luykx, Belgian Ambassador to India, Peter Huyghebaert Consul General of Belgium in Mumbai and Claire Tillekaerts, CEO Flanders Investment & Trade Agency, following a delegation of Belgian and Indian government officials and industry representatives. It formed part of the largest-ever trade mission of Flanders to India.
