CIBJO Confirms Yerevan as Congress Host
May 04, 16(IDEX Online News) – The World Jewelry Confederation (CIBJO) has confirmed that its annual congress will take place in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, from October 26-28.
The congress will be hosted by the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA), which since its inception in 1998 has worked to connect Armenian jewelers to their counterparts and markets around the world, and to aid in the country’s jewelry industry development.
The CIBJO congress serves as the official gathering point for the World Jewelry Confederation’s Assembly of Delegates, and also where amendments can be introduced to the organization’s Blue Books – the industry standard directories concerning diamonds, colored stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals and coral.
Congress is also the location for reports on the progress in the World Jewelry Confederation Education Foundation (WJCEF), relating to responsible and sustainable activities in the industry – including cooperation with the United Nations and its development program.
"We are most excited to be holding the congress this year in Armenia, which is a country that is a springboard into a host of developing markets in the Near East and Central Asia,” said CIBJO president Dr. Gaetano Cavlieri.
"We invite members of the gem and jewellery sectors from around the world to join us in Yerevan, and to participate in our discussions, for the benefit our colleagues, our clients and our stakeholders along the entire chain of distribution."
