Signet Announces Retirement of Stuart Lee And Clark McEwen
May 04, 17(IDEX Online) – Signet Jewelers Limited has announced the retirement of Stuart Lee, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer; and Clark McEwen, Senior Vice President of Signet Direct Diamond Sourcing.
“As communicated in recent months, Signet continues to adapt to changing market conditions and is committed to building an organization of the future, designed to enable execution of key business priorities including strengthening customer service, enhancing digital capabilities and driving profitable growth.
“Over the past many years, Stuart and Clark have been shining examples of the type of team members that have helped Signet to become the great business it is today,” said Chief Executive Officer Mark Light. “It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of these two remarkable individuals who have been instrumental to our company’s growth and success.”
Lee began his career at Signet as a Director of Gold in the Merchandising department in August 1996. He went on to become the Director of Jared Merchandising & Corporate Watches, helping grow the Jared The Galleria of Jewelry store brand by introducing new jewelry lines like LeVian® which became one of the largest volume brands within Signet stores and The Leo®
branded diamond. Shortly after, he was promoted to Vice President of Corporate Merchandising.
In April 2012, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Merchandising & General Manager, and in July 2015, he became Executive Vice President of Merchandising.
Meanwhile, McEwen began his career with Signet in 2011 and
spent 32 years in the diamond industry. He is considered an authority on the global diamond supply chain, Signet said.
Prior to joining Signet, McEwen has served as Global Marketing Manager for Rio Tinto Diamonds, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Marketing for The Gemesis Corporation, Manager of CanadaMark for BHP Billiton, Managing Director at Triton Trading BVBA, Vice President of Purchasing at TDS Ltd. and Diamond Controller and Director of Loose Diamond Division at Spence Diamonds Ltd.
At Signet, McEwen focused on both strategic development and operational execution of the company’s pursuit of establishing an efficient and profitable diamond supply chain with regard to the rough procurement and the manufacturing and distribution of polished diamonds.
