De Beers Increases Rough Prices Again
February 24, 21(IDEX Online) - De Beers has reportedly increased prices for the third Sight in a row, as demand for rough keeps getting stronger.
The UK-based miner doesn't comment on prices but insiders say they're up four per cent, especially among stones over one-carat, at the Sight in Gabarone, Botswana, that concludes on Friday.
Prices were reportedly up by five per cent last month, when De Beers sold $650m - the highest figure for three years. They also rose in December.
The midstream is restocking as the industry bounces back from the pandemic, with strong US sales from the US holidays, Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year. It is also making the most of flexibilities introduced last year.
