"Best Kimberlite Diamond Recoveries" at Lulo Mine, Angola
December 08, 22(IDEX Online) - Lucapa reports the "best kimberlite diamond recoveries to date" from ongoing explorations at its Lulo mine, in Angola.
The Australian miner says bulk sampling of diamond-bearing kimberlites had yielded 20 stones with a total weight of 15.51 carats.
Among them were five +1.0-ct diamonds, including one of 1.95-cts. A number of stones have been classified as Type IIa.
"While the processing of the kimberlite bulk sample is continuing, these initial diamond recoveries already represent the highest diamond count and carat weight of diamonds recovered from any kimberlite bulk sample processed at Lulo to date," said Lucapa in a statement released today.
Around 630m3 of the 3,200m3 broken kimberlite bulk sample has been processed so far.
Lucapa managing director, Stephen Wetherall said: "We are beginning to see the desired outcome of the methodical exploration approach in a significant diamond province which has been accelerated by the recent commissioning of the dedicated bulk sample plant."
