November Exports from India Soar
December 14, 03Interim figures of diamond and jewelry exports from India show continued growth of the diamond center. 2,055,000 carats of cut and polished diamonds were exported to the tune of $443.7 million during the month from DPCC, Mumbai, Surat and Jaipur.

The figures show an increase of 20.15 percent in the value of polished diamond exports compared to November 2002.
India also exported a great amount of rough diamonds totaling $70.79 million for the export of 3.385 million carats in November.
Rough diamond imports saw a leap of nearly 57 percent to $563.89 million from $359.2 million last November. The center imported 15.653 million carats compared to 11.896 million carats during the same month last year.
However the most impressive number was reserved for gold jewelry exports. Indian jewelry makers have exported in November a total of $54.57 million worth of goods, nearly doubling last year’s exports, which stood at $27.3 million.
